Figure Drawing

Figure 1Figure 2

I’ve been practicing my figure drawing yesterday, and I’ve noticed that my proportions in general need some work. In this guy, his legs just aren’t long enough, which made me realize that he doesn’t look balanced either because of it.

I also seem to have a tendency to shorten arms, which I’ll need to work on. Practice practice practice :)

fiery hairBack to my Prismacolors :)

I drew this on my failed watercolor paper, which has a smooth side and a rough side. This is on the rougher side, which I’m not sure if I like because while it gives great texture, I’m not fond of all the white specks showing through. I’ll probably go back later and try to fill it in.

I also wasn’t really sure what to do about the background, but I think I’m okay with it so far, the kind of layered effect with the gray.

I was trying to give her a sort of hopeful expression but I don’t know if I succeed or if it’s just my wishful thinking :)

Soooo, I haven’t posted anything in about a week…oops :P

I’ve been really busy with midterms and such and mostly because I wanted to work on watercolors (since I got my little field set :D) and I had to wait until the weekend to get watercolor paper from the local art store.

And then when I got there I didn’t realize that watercolor paper came in pads of 12 sheets which I thought wasn’t going to last me because I was planning on just practicing a lot and I was hoping for more paper (watercolor paper is so expensive!). So then I saw the Canson XL mixed media pad that said it was good for acrylics, watercolor, and pen and pencil. So I thought great! It came with 60 sheets and it was a good price so I bought it…

Watercolor was such a fail on this paper. It buckled and the water streaks stayed and ughhh it was just awful. So suffice to say, I will never be buying it again, but I guess I just didn’t realize what mixed media meant.

So I borrowed a sheet of paper from a friend :)

I didn’t really know where to start so I just followed a Youtube video to practice.

I don’t think watercolor is really my thing… or I just need A LOT of practice haha :)

I’ve always wanted to try watercolor because the way pictures turned out always seemed so fluid and pretty.

So I went out and bought a set to play around with. It was really hard because I forgot to let things dry and painted over the places that were still wet which got kinda messy :P

A is for… almost no time to do anything

Letter A

It’s been so busy! I feel like I haven’t had time to do anything, just classes and meetings all day. So I just started doodling the alphabet. I had no idea where I was going with this so it’s really random and kinda just for fun :D

Also, I’d just like to say a big thank you to all the people following and liking my blog. It’s been really pleasantly surprising because when I started posting these pictures I really wasn’t expecting anyone to actually see them, so I just want to say that I really appreciate it! :)))
